Creating professional grade videos doesn’t have to be hard, and it most certainly doesn’t have to be expensive. For under $1,000, you can get everything you need to make engaging videos right in your dealership.
Dealers must embrace video for their marketing communications to local consumers. These videos can be used on your website, Facebook, CRM, and anywhere else! Just follow the steps below and you’ll be on your way to video marketing success.
Get the Equipment
For $150, you can get a simple green screen kit from Amazon. The collapsible rod allows the kit to be portable, so you can bring it to multiple filming locations.
When setting up your kit, you should iron the green screen to ensure it lies flat. Your green screen should continue onto the floor to create a more complete background. Once your background is set up, you can position your three lights to light up the background and the people in the video as efficiently as possible. You’ll most likely want to place one light to the left, one to the right, and one in the back for optimal results. Be sure to stand out from the screen to eliminate any shadows. This kit is very simple to use in your dealership, even at multiple stores!
You should also consider investing in a tripod, along with a camera featuring an audio input jack. This will allow you to wear a wireless microphone, while the other end is plugged directly into the camera to eliminate background noise.
Edit Your Video
Once your video is filmed, you should use Apple iMovie to edit. Remove your memory card, and load your video onto your computer. You will then be able to click “create new,” and import the media.
When editing, first drag down the image that you would like to be your background. Then, drag down the green screen video and place it on top of the background image. Make sure that both the video, and the background image are stretched to the same length as shown below.
Once you have done this, click on the video to highlight it. A drop-down bar will appear at the top of your editing box as shown to below. From these options, you should choose the “green/blue screen” option.
With the editing options along the top of the box, you can add titles and text. The text can be made larger or smaller, and placed in many different areas.
Appointment confirmation videos are great for green screen filming. You can add text and images to show the customer what they will see onsite, and to reinforce your verbal instructions. You can insert images of the customer parking lot, the receptionist, and any other landmarks to make them feel as if they’ve visited your dealership before.
Giving visual and verbal ques can alleviate any stress or anxiety your customer may have, and paves the path for a seamless appointment.
Once you have finished editing, you will click file, share, create a file, next, and save to finalize your video.
Congratulations—you have now created a professional grade video to be shared on Youtube, social media, and across all of your marketing efforts!
